Executive Summary

In this assignment, an evaluation of the impact of a category of spend to organisation stakeholders has been carried out. The organisation of focus is Fadaat Media Group which is ranked as a large media network in Arab World. In pursuing the evaluation, market analysis has been pursued to identify the extent in which the organisation achieve value for money outcomes in their selected category. The category of spend include sourcing for their employees health insurance cover. Through a focus on this category of spend, different tools and techniques have been used which include Porter’s 5 Forces, STEEPLE, Mendelow Matrix and SWOT analysis among others to understand the best practice in achieving value for money outcomes. Also, available data has been used in carrying out market analysis to understand how their positioning affect their ability to achieve value for money outcomes. This is while Fadaat ensuring that in all their media stations which are subsidiaries provide their clients with quality services with good costs.

The findings of this assignment note that Fadaat their Procurement and Supply Management (PS&M) plays a major role in guaranteeing their success in sourcing different categories of spend. They achieve this by working with other stakeholders to invest on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) harnessing sustainability of their procurement process.

From the analysis and findings obtained, a set of recommendations have been generated to assist Fadaat to achieve value for money outcomes in sourcing for the health insurance cover for their employees. They are;

  • Fadaat Media Group need to explore more opportunities in healthcare insurance sourcing for their employees with more stakeholders engaged. The outcome of this is achieving value for money outcomes
  • There is a need to restructure Fadaat PS&M for guaranteeing improvement in value for money outcomes
  • The PS&M need to collaborate with the management to track consistently their employees’ health needs hence recommend best insurance
  • Set a specific amount in their budget meant for managing issues with accuracies of sourcing plan and enhancing control and awareness
  • Expansion of supplier research through international and regional (MENA) region to engage more suppliers of healthcare for value for money outcomes

Fadaat Media Group is currently identified as one of the largest media networks in entire Arab World (Fadaat, 2023). This is with the company media production reach to millions of viewers and readers globally by their group different platforms. Further, the organisation is comprised of a highly qualified staff who work in 35 offices globally. This is with their Media channels and platforms being followed by more than 400 million views (see appendix 2). The organisation has been in active operation in Qatari Capital since 2012 operating as a private commercial enterprise. Their initial sector of venture included the visual print and new media field (see appendix 1 subsidiaries wall of frame). The organisation primary objective is to increase their coverage and achieve a detailed analysis of news to the Arab world, supporting cultural production inclusive of literature, art, and high-class entertainment while elevating the Arab Media. This is for professional advancement with leadership function assumed in the world of media production and development of media services and social-based communication. Further, the organisation prioritises on exploration of new horizons to spread knowledge, open appropriate communication platforms with Arab masses and development of services in fields of traditional and digital media sectors. This is for the purpose of engaging a broad audience globally. In order to achieve all the identified aims, the accruing on value for getting value for money outcomes is critical for the organisation.

1.2 Impact of Procurement and Supply Chain Management (PS&M) in context of Fadaat Media Group

Fadaat Media Group operate an independent PS&M department tased with a responsibility of pursuing a value-driven and custom-made sourcing strategies both for the operations of the media and facilitating their operations. In this case, the organisation engage local and international suppliers for the purpose of enabling the organisation in successfully sourcing best supplies. Also identified as strategic procurement and sourcing management, PS&M in Fadaat Media Group ensure that they initiate global networks and empower organisations to deliver high-level quality, cost-effective supplies (RocketReach, 2023). The organisation supply chain is today detailed and managed for advancing quality of their media services through integrating technology as part of their operations with connectivity harnessed.

1.3 Scope of Assignment

Fadaat Media Group is an organisation mandated to pursue a world-class media platforms operating in line with highest standards and meeting the aspirations of the Arab World. In this regard, a significant organisation spend category is healthcare insurance for their employees. Part of this is to offer an opportunity of the organisation to harness transparent, equality and being equipped with appropriate tools for increasing their creativity and their cultural, education and financial growth (Fadaat, 2023). Apart from health insurance, Fadaat Media Group has been working to explore on media liability policy which would be relevant for setting costs and judgements against insured and defence costs and miscellaneous legal fees (Wrede et al., 2020). Hence, insurance cover is critical for Fadaat Media Group in establishing efficiencies in their practices. The organisation partnering with insurance companies such as QLM insurance, they have managed to source the best insurance cover core for increasing their employees satisfaction and increased health. In this case, for this assignment, the focus is to evaluate the impact of this category of spend to different stakeholders and its role in achieving value for money outcomes in the PS&M strategy.

2.0 Relevance and Impact to Organisation Stakeholders

Stakeholders are defined in CIPD (2023) as “people or groups depending on an organisation for fulfilling their own goals and on whom, in turn, the organisation depends”. Considering Fadaat Media Group, their stakeholders are grouped into internal, external and connected stakeholders. As evidenced in Okai-Ugbaje et al. (2020), internal stakeholders are identified to be connected to their organisations and leveraging on substantial impact on making decisions. This is while external stakeholders inclusive of individuals and organisations without any relationship with organisation. For Fadaat Media Group operations, their different stakeholders are classified as illustrated in table 1;

These are Mendelow’s Matrix critical top evaluate power and interest possessed by different stakeholders (Chaubey & Subramanian, 2020)). Keep Satisfied- Considering this category of stakeholders possess high-level influence albeit less power, a successful sourcing strategy is essential for their practice. Stakeholders for this category entail contracts management teams, tenders management, suppliers of insurance cover and TV employees.

Key Players- The board of directors, PS&M department and others possess an immense power in decision making of insurance cover sourcing. This means that they must actively be engaged in the process of sourcing.

Keep Informed- This include specialised sourcing teams for the insurance covers spend categories having less power and interest. The process influence their decision making and existing legislations in procurement process.

Minimal Effort– The IT department and healthcare sector which are involved in the insurance cover sourcing is actively engaged to support sourcing strategy and as such less efforts. They are instrumental in making sure sourcing strategy adopted is successful.
