1. Learning Journal

My learning objectives for this period were I need to:

1. Understand how to manage risk in decisions, take into account multiple factors such as timelines, resources, and available data.

2. Acquire critical thinking skills to quickly identify potential issues and develop strategies to mitigate them.

3. Enhance interpersonal skills to effectively communicate complex decisions to stakeholders and build consensus where necessary.

My action plan 1. Adopted a Listening Mindset: I developed a habit of listening to all sides of an issue, as well as to my own thoughts and feelings. This allowed me to gather more information and to better understand the complexity of the HR issue before making a decision.

2. Practiced Self-Reflection: I used self-reflection to evaluate my own biases and to identify areas for growth. This enabled me to make decisions that were based on facts and evidence rather than my own personal biases.

3. Taken Ownership: I took ownership of my mistakes, accepted responsibility, and took steps to remedy them. This helped me to move forward with a clear understanding of how my actions had impacted the situation.

2. Reflections on learning during this period

What I learned I learned that it is important to build trust with those who are involved in the decision-making process by being transparent and honest, and by listening to the opinions of others. It is also important to use data to inform decisions, as well as to be able to explain the rationale for decisions and provide clear communication about the decisions. I also learned that it is important to be flexible and willing to consider different perspectives, and to be open to criticism and feedback. Finally, it is important to be confident in own ability to make sound decisions and to stand by them.
Evidence 1. Explored books, articles, and other resources related to complex issues, risk management, and developing behaviours in others. Made a list of topics I need to learn more about in each area and select one or two books or articles to read each week to build my knowledge and understanding. [July-October 2022]

2. Connected with mentors, peers, and other professionals who can provide advice and guidance as I work through plan. [January 2023]

3. Identified where I need to take ownership and develop a plan to address any issues that may arise. This included recognize and address mistakes quickly, developing a system to track progress and progress on tasks, and actively seeking feedback from colleagues and other stakeholders. [January 2023]

Conclusions Overall, I have learned that it is important to show courage and conviction when influencing others during decision-making. This involves having a clear vision of the desired outcome and being willing to take ownership of mistakes. By having a strong understanding of the various approaches to decision-making, it can ensure that decisions are made with the greatest likelihood of achieving the desired outcome. With this knowledge, I can confidently influence others during decision-making, taking ownership to remedy mistakes along the way.
