3.2 Self-Assessment of Strengths, Weaknesses, and Development Areas
In assessing my strengths, weaknesses, and development areas based on the CIPD core behaviors at the Associate level, I focused on “Working Inclusively” and “Professional Courage and Influence.”
Strengths:
I excel in creating an inclusive environment, actively seeking diverse perspectives, and building positive working relationships. Feedback from my supervisor confirms my ability to foster collaboration and trust within the team, underscoring my effectiveness in these areas (See Appendix 1).
Weaknesses:
My assessment revealed that while I am confident in advocating for inclusive practices, I struggle with displaying professional courage when challenging senior management decisions. I tend to be cautious in voicing disagreements, which sometimes limits my influence and the potential impact of my input.
Development Areas:
To address this, I plan to focus on enhancing my assertiveness and influence skills. I will engage in assertiveness training and seek mentorship to develop strategies for effectively challenging decisions while maintaining professionalism. This approach will help me build greater confidence in exercising professional courage and improve my overall impact within the organisation.
