Justification for this rating:

In my placement, working as a people practice professional, since COVID-19 pandemic emerged, multiple instances have emerged which have required re-evaluation of Almarai organisation operations. The rationale of this is informed by challenges which have emerged in the business environment particularly in regard to resumption of active business operations.

Additionally, in both my career and real life as both a community leader, family person and entrepreneur, business acumen which can successfully deliver commercial benefits and manage resilience is instrumental to me. The rationale of this is that I have found this to impact the scope of my organisation success, progress in my career and being competitive which is instrumental for my practice.

Development objectives To improve my competence within this area I will:

 

a)    Build on my knowledge in the area of business acumen with a particular focus on those that drive my behaviours contributing to development of a culture of delivering commercial benefits and managing resilience

b)    Ensure that my business acumen is directly linked to my capacity to gain commercially for my organisation and my private as an entrepreneur

c)    Considering the different business challenges particularly in the economic dimension, it is essential to build resilience approaches and align them with organisation best practice

 

An example: Build my knowledge within the area of business ethics, with specific focus on how HRM professionals contribute to the development of cultures with high standards of ethics.

 

Achieving your development objectives: Opportunities and obstacles As  a best practice, the opportunities which I would leverage on to achieve these objectives would include;

·      In every week, I would attend group discussions with different team members in my organisation to gain insights on how to use internal and external data for acquiring insights on people solutions in our organisation to achieve 80% increased stress management and accuracy of leading and managing change process

·      To enrol in a short-term course to build my skills and knowledge on various areas of HR which would ensure that I 100% contribute to my organisation success in its business environment (business and financial acumen delivering commercial benefits)

The success of achieving these objectives would be evaluated through;

·      I would ensure I measure my competence in business acumen which can deliver commercial benefits and managing resilience

·      I would use the Self-Awareness Outcomes Questionnaire (SAOQ).

·      I would use the self-management self-test (SMST). According to Wehmeier et al. (2020) the importance of this tool would be to test my ability to promote convergent validity, ability of differentiating, criterion validity, internal consistency and test-retest reliability.

For the potential obstacles, they include;

·      In my placement, it is evident that I have to work for many hours for my success in my assigned job roles. This is also complicated by the fact that I am a family person, entrepreneur, women leader and also take part in different initiatives for organisation change. All these affect ability to take part in continuous learning process

·      There are factors beyond my direct control which impact my self-management and limiting my capabilities
